🎃 Spooky Science Mini Pack
Theme: Halloween Fun & Curiosity — Duration: 15–25 minutes
You’ll Need
- Baking soda, vinegar, balloons, food colouring
- Tape, yarn or string, small lightweight toys (“bugs”)
- Plastic cups, spoons, markers
Experiments
- Bubbling Pumpkin Potion: Add baking soda and coloured vinegar to a small pumpkin “cauldron” and watch it fizz! Talk about carbon dioxide bubbles forming.
- Dancing Ghost Balloons: Mix baking soda and vinegar inside a bottle with a balloon on top. Watch your ghost rise as the gas fills it!
- Spooky Web Challenge: Build a spider web from tape or yarn and test which “bugs” stick. Adjust your design — can you make it stronger?
Talk About It
- What made the bubbles or the balloon move?
- What materials made the best spider web?
- What do you think would happen if we used more vinegar or longer strings?
Reflection
- Encourage your child to describe what they observed — colours, sounds, movements.
- Ask: “What surprised you the most?” or “What would you try next time?”
